Sunday 23rd April 2023, the 1084 band paraded again!
We joined 1936 Newton Squadron RAFAC and East Midlands University Air Squadron, Polish Air Force Representatives, Veterans and Dignitaries this weekend to unveil a new statue in Newton Village.
The memorial was designed by ex-Newton cadet Tim O’Brien to commemorate all personnel who served at RAF Newton before it closed in 2001.
It was a drizzly day for it, but it all went really well, and the cadets got to meet Air Chief Marshall Sir Andrew Pulford GCB CBE ADC former Chief of the Air Staff to talk about his experience in the forces too.
It was an honour to lead the parade alongside fellow cadets and the EMUAS, in front of Veterans who served at RAF Newton, family, and friends! We were also joined by BBC Nottingham and featured on the local news Sunday evening - check out BBC News East Midlands for their coverage of the event!
All the recent hard work has paid off and everyone who were there are a credit to the aircadets and their squadrons.
